Our Focus
Essential Medical Care & Rehabilitation
We believe every child deserves the chance to move, see, hear, and thrive. Our health initiatives focus on providing life-changing medical interventions for children with disabilities, including physiotherapy, mobility aids (wheelchairs, crutches), and access to specialist consultations. We bridge the gap between rural communities and urban medical facilities, ensuring that no child is left behind due to geographic or financial barriers. Beyond treatment, we train parents in basic home-based care, turning families into the first line of defense for their child’s long-term well-being.
Ending Hunger, Ensuring Nutrition
An empty stomach robs a child of the energy to heal and learn. Our food security programs ensure that vulnerable families have consistent access to nutritious meals. We provide emergency food supplies to households in crisis, but we go further by promoting sustainable agricultural practices—such as backyard gardening and small-scale poultry farming—that allow families to grow their own food. For children with disabilities, we prioritize high-protein and vitamin-rich supplements to support physical development and immune strength, recognizing that proper nutrition is the foundation of every other form of progress.
Building Economic Resilience
Poverty is a cycle—we help families break it. Our livelihood security initiatives equip parents, particularly mothers, with the vocational skills and financial literacy needed to generate stable incomes. We offer training in trades such as tailoring, baking, and small business management, alongside seed capital and savings groups that foster community-based lending. By creating sustainable income streams, we reduce the financial strain that often forces families to choose between buying medicine and putting food on the table, ensuring that children with disabilities grow up in stable, hopeful households.
Direct Aid for Vulnerable Households
We meet families where they are, with dignity and urgency. For households living in absolute poverty, we provide immediate, unconditional support to cover their most pressing needs—including rent assistance, clothing, hygiene supplies, and emergency medical fees. Our case management approach ensures that every family receives a tailored support plan, addressing not just the symptoms of poverty but its root causes. We walk alongside these families over the long term, connecting them to government safety nets and other services so that they can move from crisis to stability with their heads held high.
Elevating Women, Elevating Communities
When you empower a woman, you uplift an entire village. We place women at the center of our socio-economic programs because they are the primary caregivers and the anchors of Ethiopian households. Our initiatives provide women with access to interest-free loans, business mentorship, and market linkages to sell their products. We also facilitate entrepreneurship training, giving women the confidence and skills to become breadwinners and decision-makers. As women gain economic independence, we see a direct, measurable improvement in their children’s nutrition, school attendance, and access to healthcare.
Safe Spaces for Growth & Development
Every child, regardless of ability, deserves a childhood filled with play, learning, and love. Our child care programs provide nurturing day-care environments where children with and without disabilities can interact safely while their parents work or attend training. We offer early childhood stimulation, inclusive play-based learning, and therapeutic activities designed to enhance motor and cognitive skills. Beyond the physical space, we counsel parents on positive parenting techniques, helping them foster emotional resilience and self-esteem in their children, creating a home environment where every child feels valued and capable.
Strengthening Local Women Leaders
The most sustainable change comes from within. Our capacity-building programs identify and train women within the community to become leaders, advocates, and service providers. Through workshops on leadership, project management, and community mobilization, we equip these women to take ownership of local development initiatives. We also provide them with practical tools in financial record-keeping and grant-writing so they can independently run community-based organizations. By investing in the skills of local women, we ensure that our work continues to grow and adapt long after we leave, creating a legacy of empowered female changemakers.
